Working the clues… predicting the future? August 22, 2004

Theory/Observation: JKR’s site and clues therein

Character(s) and/or artifact (s): Business cards, combination locks,

Abstract/summary: [info]lizardlaugh and I have been pouring over the clues left on Jo’s corkboard and along with some interesting observations we’ve gotten from other people, including [info]hp_speculation we’ve been chatting and we’ve come up with some interesting observations!(I’m sure many people have come up with this already, but I thought I’d post post the generals here and the surprise bit at the bottom about Harry’s 6th year and some of my predictions.)Supporting evidence: ( The easy ones )

( Jo’s date with shepperton studios next month?!?!? )

( Of real importance—Combo locks and numerology! )

Now with these two clues and knowing that vault has something to do with Gringott’s Goblins, knowing the Vault number 713 is where the Philosophers Stone is kept in Harry’s 1st year, there is a good chance the item inside this new vault on JKR’s site has something directly to do with Harry himself.

( 6th year predictions connected to the clues on Jo’s site, who the new DADA proffesor will be, and Snape’s role in HBP )

Notes: ( A few last words on the subject… )

Abstract/summary: [info]lizardlaugh and I have been pouring over the clues left on Jo’s corkboard and along with some interesting observations we’ve gotten from other people, including [info]hp_speculation we’ve been chatting and we’ve come up with some interesting observations!(I’m sure many people have come up with this already, but I thought I’d post post the generals here and the surprise bit at the bottom about Harry’s 6th year and some of my predictions.)Supporting evidence: The easy ones on Jo’s cork board: Goofy and Jo, the 8-15-04 Reading, Fan Site: pick a new date, the note about Pillar of Storge ‘Get a grip’, Midwife appointment, new items on shopping list, B-Day guest list, ‘Blood Prince’ is circled on a page of note paper, a diagram of the Gringotts vault, and a detailed note that is illegible about Hogwarts and the Sorting Hat and Gryffindors.

The card with the date of shepperton studios, we predict is when JKR will announce her new book to the world using the studios as her base of communications.

Other possibilities, is another online chat, interview, or perhaps filming for GoF.

Of real importance:

The combo lock number is revealed after Peeves flies through on the “Gobb Lynn” Security Specialists business card. The lock number is the phone number. ([info]hp_speculation pointed this out.) More on the numbers at the end.

Finally back to the numbers of the items behind the door.

Going to my basic numerology knowledge, if you add up 7-1-3 (the numbers for the dart board) you get a total of 11.

Then if you add the numbers for vault combo ’30 27 23′ in the following fashion: 3+0+2+7+2+3=17

11 and 17

11 is the age Harry enters Hogwarts.
17 is the age Harry is set for having his last year at Hogwarts.

My prediction, is that the description within this new vault is a description of the new professor that will be teaching at Hogwarts. I don’t think he will be the new DADA Proffesor, but instead fill the vacated spot of the Potions Master.

“Why would Snape leave teaching Potions?” you ask… well I believe Dumbledore will finally offer that post to Snape for one or both reasons.

1) Snape won’t allow Harry into his NEWT level class, so to solve that issue, Dumbledore offers him a job that will “bring the worst out of Snape”: The Defense Against The Dark Arts professor position.

2) Having a Death Eater (former or spy or both) will give the 6th year, and then some, students a REAL taste of what they might expect from the coming War.

Note, the running gag of the teacher leaving the job at the end of term can still happen, especially if Snape has to leave school to join the ranks of the Death Eaters, spy or not.

So that leaves one thing… the contents of the vault. What does the description of the person in the vault have to do with Harry?

Well [info]lizardlaugh, has predicted that Harry really is a Metamorphmagus (more on this in a moment). Basically, we get a clue of this in PS/SS when we read that Petunia has cut his hair and in the morning he has his hair back to normal I always though that odd when I first read PS/SS.

Once, Aunt Petunia, tired of Harry coming back from the barbers looking

as though he hadn’t been at all, had taken a pair of kitchen scissors and cut his hair so short he was almost bald except for his bangs, which she left “to hide that horrible scar.” Dudley had laughed himself silly at Harry, who spent a sleepless night imagining school the next day, where he was already laughed at for his baggy clothes and taped glasses. Next morning, however, he had gotten up to find his hair exactly as it had been before Aunt Petunia had sheared it off He had been given a week in his cupboard for this, even though he had tried to explain that he couldn’t explain how it had grown back so quickly.

We get a few more bigger, though indirect clues/foreshadowing of this with the appearance of Nymphadora Tonks in OotP and her uncanny behavior towards Harry then quickly, by JKR’s hand, the subject gets changed:

‘Can you learn how to be a Metamorphmagus?’ Harry asked her, straightening up, completely forgetting about packing.
Tonks chuckled. ‘Bet you wouldn’t mind hiding that scar sometimes, eh?’ Her eyes found the lightning-shaped scar on Harrys forehead.
‘No, I wouldn’t mind,’ Harry mumbled, turning away. He did not like people staring at his scar.
‘Well, you’ll have to learn the hard way, I’m afraid,’ said Tonks. ‘Metamorphmagi are really rare, they’re born, not made. Most wizards need to use a wand, or potions, to change their appearance. But we’ve got to get going, Harry, we’re supposed to be packing,’ she added guiltily, looking around at all the mess on the floor.

So if Harry is a Metamorphmagus, and Snape is not the Potions Professor in Harry’s 6th year, and time travel is used in a more profound way than what we’ve seen explained/speculated in Knight2King, and Harry goes “back” the way we think Ron goes back and the way others have said Hermione goes back in time, then my money is that this old looking lion, with wire-rimmed spectacles, might be an older war wounded metamorphed ‘alive’ Harry Potter.

Notes: Lastly, I know a lot of this is grand speculation, and some of the Harry stuff is dependent on Knight2King basic theory of time travel being involved, but give it a shot… and consider this: If this rather old looking lion is Harry who has just metamorphed into looking like the description in vault, then that would make it really cool if Harry does turn out to be a metamorphomagus and is taught to control his skills by an older version of himself.
